Bio
Michael “Mike” A. Ostrander joined Wilson Ratledge in 2008, after association with a large, national Social Security disability firm in Raleigh. He practices in both of Wilson Ratledge’s major practice groups, with an emphasis on civil litigation and commercial real estate. Mr. Ostrander’s litigation practice covers a broad array of commercial disputes, including construction litigation, lien prosecution and defense, trade secret disputes, business tort litigation, real property litigation, trusts and estates litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and securities litigation. Mr. Ostrander has litigated cases in North Carolina trial and appellate courts, in all federal trial courts in North Carolina, the United States Tax Court and various state and federal administrative tribunals.
In his commercial real estate practice, Mr. Ostrander represents investors, developers, and sellers in a broad range of transactions throughout the United States, and provides representation in the acquisition, sale, leasing, and financing of commercial real estate. Mr. Ostrander also routinely represents corporate clients in various transactional, compliance, and litigation matters impacting the health and fitness industry.
Mr. Ostrander received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Secondary Education, cum laude, from Elmira College in Elmira, New York. After graduation, and prior to attending law school, Mr. Ostrander was a U.S. History teacher and tennis instructor in upstate New York. Mr. Ostrander received his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. While at Cooley, Mr. Ostrander served as an Associate Editor for the Law Journal and was a top ten advocate in the Moot Court Competition.
Mr. Ostrander routinely volunteers his time to judge mock trial competitions at Campbell Law School and the University of North Carolina. He has also guest lectured at Campbell Law School.
Mr. Ostrander and his wife, Marni, reside in Apex, North Carolina with their three children, Zackary, Zoe and Zane. In his spare time, Mr. Ostrander and his family can usually be found traveling to numerous youth sporting events where Mr. Ostrander is routinely coaching his son’s team. Mr. Ostrander also tries to remain active in the Wake County Bar Association’s sports scene, playing in the softball and basketball leagues and the annual tennis tournament. He and his family are also active members of their church in Apex.
